Is My Carpet Worth Cleaning?
We love making old carpets look new again. Many customers are surprised – even delighted – by how great their carpets look after a professional cleaning. Here are a couple great examples:

But sometimes, cleaning just isn’t enough. There are situations where replacing your carpet might be a better option. How do you know when it’s time to say goodbye to your old carpet?
When Cleaning Might Not Be Enough
Here are some signs it might be time to consider a fresh start:
- Extensive, Long-Term Heavy Soiling: Has your carpet been walked on by dirty shoes for a long time? Over years, dirt and grit get deep into the fibers. This grinds them down, causing damage. Even after cleaning, not all the dirt may come out. When the carpet dries, hidden dirt can “wick” (move up the fibers) to the surface, making it look dirty again. Plus, the wear from all that grit will leave your carpet looking dull and worn, even if it’s technically “clean.”
- Heavy Staining: If your carpet has a collection of different, overlapping stains that have built up over time – even with your best at-home spot removal efforts – you might be disappointed with cleaning results. Different stains need different treatments. When there’s a mix, it’s very hard for us to tackle them all effectively.
- Severe Urine Stains: Pet accidents happen! But if your carpet has been repeatedly soaked with urine, it’s incredibly tough to fully remove the stains and odors. For extensive pet damage, especially from cats or dogs, the best approach is often to:
- Pull up the carpet.
- Remove and replace the underlay (the padding beneath).
- Clean and treat both sides of the carpet with an odor-attacking enzyme solution.
- Be aware: We can’t guarantee results for this type of severe cleaning and charge hourly for these specialized situations.
- It’s Just Old, Tired, or Ragged: Remember, “clean” doesn’t mean “new.” Professional cleaning can remove dirt and grime, but it can’t fix damaged or worn-out fibers. Think of it like a favorite pair of ripped jeans – washing them won’t make them brand new again. If your carpet is already threadbare, matted, or showing significant wear and tear, cleaning won’t magically restore its original condition.
