Preparing for Your Cleaning
One or two days prior to your appointment, we will telephone you to confirm all of your details, including your cleaning address and your order. If you have any questions before then, please feel free to telephone us or contact us.
In-Home Basic Area Rug/Mat Cleaning
- Make sure that your area rug is in a spacious area on a surface that is resistant to water.
- Vacuum your mat or rug thoroughly prior to our cleaning for best results
- Ensure you have a space where your rug/mat can dry with good air flow, on a water resistant floor (not hardwood or carpet).
In-Depth Restorative Cleaning – Area Rug Pick Up
- Vacuum It – If there is visible debris on the carpet, give it a quick vacuum. We will do a thorough vacuum of both sides at our facility, but any large or lose debris should be removed prior to pick up if possible.
- Roll it – If you are able to do so safely, roll up your rug and have it near the door for the easy accessibility and to make your pick up simple and convenient.
- Areas of Concern – If you have specific areas of concern, you may mention or point them out to your technician at the time of pick up
- Payment – we accept credit card & debit card at the time of pick up.
In-Depth Restorative Cleaning – Area Rug Cleaning Time
Your area rug will be processed at our plant using a very thorough cleaning process. The condition of the rug as well as areas of concern will influence how long it takes. Typically this will take 7-10 days to allow for thorough drying, as well as re-cleaning if necessary (this is quite common in rugs with pet concerns or stains).
Drop Off
- When your rug is ready to be returned, you will receive a telephone call or email to schedule the drop off.
- When we bring your rug back to you, we will unwrap it and place it back in it’s home!

Maintaining Area Rugs Between Cleanings
Vacuum thoroughly: Although it may not be obvious, dust and dirt settle into your rug from the air and every day use. Vacuuming your rug thoroughly and frequently keeps it looking great longer. How frequently you should vacuum is based on how must dust is in the home and how much use the rug gets, but a good rule of thumb is once per week, or 2-3 times per week for rugs in high traffic areas.
Spot Clean: If you have a small spill or spot, clean it carefully and quickly, while it is still wet, following our stain guide. Use an absorbant material such as a cloth diaper or disposable diaper or feminine pad to absorb as much as possible. If there is a large volume of liquid, we recommend calling a professional, as it will be difficult to extract on your won.
Treat your rugs with 3M Scotchgard™: Scotchgard™ helps your rug resist soiling and makes cleaning up spots and spills easier.
Keep up the Cleaning: Carpet manufacturers recommend professional cleaning every 12-24 months in order to maintain your warranty and keep your carpets looking great for as long as possible. Cleaning your carpets regularly can prevent premature wear, improve appearance and prolong their life.

Area Rug Cleaning FAQs
Why is the in home cleaning only available for certain types/sizes of rugs/mats?
The in-home cleaning process is a simplified process designed for synthetic, machine woven rugs without fringe or heavy soiling. In order to thoroughly clean larger, more soiled, fancier or natural fibre rugs, we need access to our facility and full range of tools.
What is the importance of regular area rug cleaning?
Many homeowners wait to book a cleaning until area rugs have a spot or stain, or traffic areas appear worn. What you may not realize is that, over time, even area rugs in low traffic areas collect dust and soil below the surface where regular vacuum cleaning may not reach. To preserve the appearance of your rugs, most carpet manufacturers recommend professional cleaning every 12-24 months for regular traffic area rugs. Rugs in low traffic areas which are vacuumed regularly can wait 36 months between cleanings if there are no stains or concerns.
Why do you take my area rug back to your office for cleaning?
Light, small, inexpensive rugs can be cleaned in home, at the preference of the customer, however, it’s important to understand that the results are not going to be comparable to a thorough restorative area rug cleaning in our dedicated area rug cleaning facility. See our method above to compare the steps in an in-home cleaning vs. a cleaning at our facility.
